Investment fund Karmijn Kapitaal made a substantial investment in IT company BPI. Technology company BPI specializes in identification applications for various Dutch government services, the National Police, border control and health care institutions,  as well as companies like KPN, Kuehne+Nagel and Secure Logistics. BPI sought investors to help keep pace with the rapidly changing market and with this investment, the company can accelerate its growth autonomously and pursue a number of strategic takeovers.

BPI offers solutions in the field of identification and Smart Sensoring for the domestic and international markets. Its products and services are used for taking fingerprints, scanning and checking ID documents and ensuring a safe and humane environment for persons in isolation rooms, High Intensive Care units (HIC) or detention centres. Driven by increasing demands on security placed by supervisory authorities, the need for reliable identification applications rises at a rapid pace.  With the help of investment fund Karmijn Kapitaal, BPI aims to deliver fitting solutions internationally.

European expansion
BPI was founded by Arjen Baan and has nurtured strong and longstanding business relationships in the fields of healthcare, government services, police and border control as well as in the corporate sector. BPI has international clients including  various Police and Border Control organizations, such as the Danish and Belgian police forces. Together with Christie van Zijp, Baan handles the operational management of the company.

Quinten Hoogeboom, Investment Manager at Karmijn, says: ‘BPI plays an important role in safeguarding the security of private citizens, companies and health care institutions in the Netherlands. BPI is a brilliant company that places great emphasis on the quality and reliability of their solutions.’ Karmijn hopes its recently acquired majority interest will help the BPI team to accelerate growth and strengthen its market position.

BPI founder Arjen Baan explains: ‘Over the years, Christie, myself and the team have built BPI into what it is today. We are convinced that Karmijn Kapitaal is the best partner to help us take the next step. Not only does Karmijn possess financiel prowess, but they are equally sensitive to our culture, organization and our clients. We are looking forward to the future.’
